Morning Rituals Around the World: Tea, Coffee and the Art of Slowing Down

How Morning Rituals Around the World Influence Our Blends

Ever wonder what a morning looks like on the other side of the globe? While I’m here in Scotland watching the rain hit the window, someone else is starting their day with a completely different ritual.

Tea is more than just a drink, it’s like a universal language of "hello." Here are a few of my favourite morning moments from around the world:

Japan

In Japan, the morning isn't rushed. It’s all about focus and finding a bit of quiet before the day starts. If you’ve ever seen a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, you’ll know it’s earthy and vibrant—very similar to the floral "pause" you get with our Kinross Fields blend. The mix of green tea, lavender, and rose petals makes my usual "scuttle to the kettle" feel so much more intentional.

Morocco

If you’ve ever been to Morocco, you know the morning smells like fresh mint and sugar. It’s poured from a height to create that beautiful "crown" of foam. It’s social and incredibly refreshing. It’s such a staple of Moroccan hospitality. If you love that crisp, minty feel, you'd definitely enjoy our Serene Oasis.

India

Across India, the day does not start without masala chai, simmered on the hob with ginger, cardamom and milk. BBC Good Food's masala chai recipe is a solid starting point if you want to try making it yourself. The ritual is the boiling, the stirring, the smell filling the kitchen.

If you love a bold morning brew, Mountain Escape has that same depth. Rich, warming, a bit unexpected.

UK

Of course, I have to mention the classic British brew. Whether it’s a posh loose-leaf or a quick bag in a mug, that first "ahhh" moment is what gets the country moving. Did you know the UK drinks over 100 million cups of tea every single day? For that signature bold city vibe, I always reach for Edinburgh Dusk.

You do not need a ceremony. You just need a few minutes that are yours and a cup that makes them feel worth having.
